Service

My need to be of service to others stemmed from a desperate desire to stay sober.

Not drinking was not sobriety.

A change in my personality, a complete alteration in my reactions to life. This was what needed to happen if I had any chance at a joyful and happy life.

I first started being of service to impress others, feeding my own ego. That did not create any changes.

I needed to learn that the changes to my personality came through a thorough moral inventory, and willingness to make amends, daily prayers of appreciation, meditation, affirmations, and acceptance.

I learned I needed a willingness to be of service to others for no reason other than selflessness.

Over these many 24 hours of living sober I have gone through many phases of development in the area of service to others, and I have felt fulfilled each time.

Today my service to others is my business and it shall remain that way, for my own good.

May each of you allow yourself the gift of finding your service to others.

You are Love and Loved.
